SHILO for the Kuecker family — NE

On their second date, Katie told Aaron that she was in the process to adopt one of two children from India. She told him that she had a passion for adoption and for individuals with disabilities, so much that she was pursuing adoption as a single woman.

Five and a half years have passed since that conversation. Aaron and Katie have now been married for just over two years and their daughter, Chitti, has been home for just over three. The Kueckers have seen how joyful and powerful adoption can be for both parent and child. In fact, it is so powerful that they are pursuing a second adoption from India for a child who has similar needs and disabilities as Chitti. “We feel we are uniquely qualified for taking care of a child with more involved disabilities because we have cared for Chitti over the past few years”, remarks Aaron. He says, “We know exactly which doctors to call and how to navigate our state’s Medicaid system. We already own a wheelchair van, and it’s probably easy to put a second chair in there!”

Meanwhile, Katie is smiling as she remembers telling Aaron about adopting on their second date. It took more years than she planned, but God has sovereignly brought them together to chase this dream of adoption together.
